Colin Macpherson has never reached the pinnacle of anything. But he has been involved in a number of interesting pursuits. These have ranged from research physics and mathematical modelling to boat building and aid work in developing countries.
Literary-wise, he has made a living as a freelance writer for magazines and newspapers, as well as writing non-fiction books and editing and publishing the work of other authors.
He has also written several novels of his own. Some people seem to think these are his greatest achievements -- obviously they don't know that he came third in his school cross-country run in 1964.
